The new 3G pitch at King George V Community Sports Hub is now open and was used for the first time this week.
Following completion of the construction project, the floodlit artifical grass pitch was handed over and is now available for teams and clubs to book.
The facility can be booked as a full, half or quarter pitch, with markings and goals for 11v11, 9v9, 7v7 and 5v5 play.
Chester FC Academy U10s and U12s were the first to play on the new surface with a number of other clubs having bookings over the coming weeks.
Chester FC Community Trust wishes to place on record its thanks to The Malcolm Group, Charles Lawrence Surfaces and CC Grass for their work on the project, along with Wernick who have provided the new clubhouse building, which is due to be handed over this week.
The sports hub project was first unveiled in March 2019 with the Community Trust and Cheshire West and Chester Council working in partnership to progress the scheme, which has been made possible thanks to a £1m grant from the Premier League, The FA and Football Foundation and further funding from Duke of Westminster’s Westminster Foundation, the Council, Avenue Services and Ursula Keyes Trust.
