King George V Community Sports Hub is a £2 million sports facility in Chester and the home of Chester FC Community Trust.

Opened in summer 2022 and located at King George V Playing Fields in Blacon, the sports hub provides indoor and outdoor facilities for grassroots clubs, leagues, teams and community groups.

The sports hub was developed in partnership with Cheshire West & Chester Council, and delivered with the support of our funding partners: Football Foundation; Westminster Foundation; Avenue Services; and Ursula Keyes Trust.

The facilities at King George V Community Sports Hub comprise:

• A floodlit full size 3G artificial grass pitch catering for 5v5, 7v7, 9v9 and 11v11 formats
• Full size grass pitch
• The Clubhouse with office, two changing rooms, toilets, kitchen and flexible community space
• The Pavilion with office, two changing rooms, classroom, toilets and kitchen
• Free on-site parking
• Six EV charging points

Chester FC Community Trust’s vision was to transform a site that was underused and in need of significant improvement into a thriving sporting hub for the communities of Blacon, Chester and Cheshire West, that would increase participation in sport, improve health and wellbeing, and create new education, employment, training and volunteering opportunities. The project delivered vital investment in grassroots sport and provided much-needed facilities for the local community to access for a range of events and activities.
